One dead, seven injured in Shahdara gas tanker blast

LAHORE: A man died and seven others received burns after a liquefied gas tanker exploded at Shahdara Morr here on Wednesday.

Seven people were wounded when the tanker exploded and ignited a massive fire that destroyed several cars parked at a nearby parking lot.Two to three survivors being treated in Mayo Hospital are in a serious condition. They were being given full support, but the first week was said to be critical. Some survivors sustained 50 per cent burns.

The man died on the spot shortly after the accident was said to be the father of a traffic warden. The truck overturned and ignited a massive fire when it approached a local petrol station. Clouds of black smoke could be seen from more than a mile away from the accident site. At least 56 rescuers and 15 water trucks participated in the operation.

Among the injured were Zain, Azeem, Afzal, Ikhlaq, Nasir, Alamghir, a Alamgir and Sharif. CTO inquires after injured warden at Mayo: Meanwhile, CTO Syed Hamad Abid visited injured warden Alamgir at Mayo Hospital. The CTO requested the doctors to give better medical treatment to the injured. The traffic warden was later discharged from the hospital while he was out of danger. Meanwhile, the CTO reached Shahdara Chowk where DSP Traffic Aamir Sadiq gave the CTO briefing about the LPG blast.

accidents: Four persons were killed and 597 injured in different road accidents during the last 24 hours. The Punjab Emergency Service (Rescue 1122) responded to 548 road accidents in all 36 districts of Punjab during the last 24 hours. Around 357 seriously inured persons were shifted to different hospitals and 240 were treated on the spot by Rescue medical teams.

Woman’s tortured body found: The tortured body of a woman was found in a field in Raiwind on Wednesday. Locals spotted the body of the woman in the field and informed police. The condition of the victim suggested that the murderer (s) first striped the victim and later subjected her to severe torture, resulting into her death. It was suspected that the victim might have been raped before murder. Police removed the body to morgue.

2,646 persons refrained from unnecessary travelling: The Lahore police set up 103 pickets in the city on Wednesday, in the name of Coronavirus.

Police claimed to have checked 11, 438 persons and refrained 2,646 persons from unnecessary travelling.

arrested: Punjab police registered 2,454 cases and arrested 4,890 persons for violating Section 144 of CrPC since March 16th. Among them, 1,017 were arrested, whereas 89 were acquitted after warning. Similarly, police teams took action against hoarders, registered 88 cases while arrested 86 hoarders.
