LAHORE: Post Graduate Medical Institute Principal Prof Dr Ghias-un-Nabi Tayyab has said a balanced life is a must to avoid the chances of high blood pressure as this disease becomes the reason for paralysis and is called silent killer also.
According to a press release issued here on Sunday, the principal in a statement said that disease of high blood pressure is increasing day by day and normally this problem occurs in late age but in Pakistan 20 per cent people crossing the age of 18 are caught of this disease. Similarly, in our society women are more in number in high blood pressure. He said as per an estimate, 40 per cent people of 40 years of age are also the victim of high blood pressure while 80 per cent of 50 years old are also in this disease.
Prof Dr Ghias-un-Nabi Tayyab said normally blood pressure should be around 110 and 70 but due to certain reasons it becomes variable and fluctuates invariably and in this case patient cannot even walk properly. He said instead of doing self-medication patients of blood pressure should immediately contact doctors and go proper treatment.
He said reasons for blood pressure depend on natural trends and surrounding atmosphere. Certainly internal aspects also play an important role in blood pressure but if we develop the healthy environment it would definitely be positive and one can avoid this problem, he said and added anger on petty things, tension and psychological problems are reasons for high blood pressure while domestic and economic issues are also reasons for problem. PGMI Principal advised that simple diet, light exercise, cycling and swimming can be helpful to maintain blood pressure.
We should avoid unnecessary tension and try to balance our life and take part in social activities and keep an eye on the cholesterol and sugar level which would be beneficial for controlling blood pressure.
