ISLAMABAD: An accountability court of Islamabad Wednesday issued notice to the NAB in response to an application filed by the defunct minister for finance Ishaq Dar seeking approval for operating Hajveri Trust’s bank account.

As per the applicant, the Trust is taking care of 93 orphan children and if it was not allowed to operate its bank account, the orphan children may suffer. The accountability court judge Muhammad Bashir while issuing notice to the NAB adjourned the matter till January 18. The accountability court on December 11, 2017 had declared Ishaq Dar a proclaimed offender and ordered attachment of his properties. On November 14, the NAB had filed an application before the court seeking freezing of Ishaq Dar's two properties that were in the names of Hajveri Trust and Hajveri Foundation. The NAB in its application had said that the two properties were managed by Dar and his wife. In his recent application, Dar through his counsel Qausain Faisal Mufti and Qazi Misbahul Hassan advocates said that the bank has denied access to the account of Hajveri Trust for the past few months and affairs of the Trust are being managed by Shahida Naeem (chairperson) from her own sources but this arrangement cannot sustain anymore.
