CJP chairs meeting on judicial reforms

ISLAMABAD: Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) Mian Saqib Nisar on Wednesday chaired a meeting on judicial reforms in Supreme Court (SC), which was attended by Lahore High Court Chief Justice Syed Mansoor Ali Shah, officers of SC, and Law & Justice Commission of Pakistan.

The CJP took briefing from Justice Syed Mansoor Ali Shah on judicial reforms in Punjab judiciary. Justice Shah gave him an overview of reforms recently brought in Punjab judiciary especially about minimisation of backlog, e-facilitations to public litigants and lawyers to ensure easy access to courts, introduction of information technology in courts so as to facilitate public, effective court and case management, promotion of Alternate Dispute Resolution (ADRs), training of judges, law officers and staff, categorisation of courts to provide inexpensive and expeditious justice to general public.

The CJP praised recent reforms in the Punjab judiciary and called it a roadmap for rest of the judiciary for which he is also going to head all Pakistan Chief Justices Conference on Saturday at Supreme Court Branch Registry Karachi. The conference will also deliberate upon different ways and strategies to bring reforms, innovation and improvements to streamline smooth functioning of current judicial system of Pakistan.
