Kamran cracks 200

ISLAMABAD: Kamran Akmal hammered a magnificent double century to guide Wapda to a commanding seven-wicket victory against Habib Bank Limited in a match of the One-Day Cup for Departments in Hyderabad on Wednesday.

Having won the toss and electing to make first use of the Niaz Stadium pitch, Habib Bank rode on a fine century by Ahmed Shehzad to post 314-8 in 47 overs. It was a decent total and seemed good enough to earn them a win. Little did they know that Kamran would produce a gem for Wapda.

The right-handed wicketkeeper-batsman blasted exactly 200 as Wapda registered victory in 45.1 overs with seven wickets in hand. Kamran faced 148 balls, hitting as many as 27 fours and four sixes.

Salman Butt added a run-a-ball 59 while Aamir Sajjad remained not out on 40. Muhammad Bilal took two wickets for Habib Bank.

Earlier, Ahmed continued his good run with the bat to score a 107-ball 110 with the help of 14 fours. Imran Farhat (63) and Zohaib Khan (59) also hit fine half centuries.Zahid Mansoor was Wadpa’s most successful bowler, finishing with figures of 4-52. Muhammad Irfan and Waqas Maqsood claimed two wickets each.

Scores in brief: At Niaz Stadium, Hyderabad: Habib Bank 314-8 in 47 overs (Ahmed Shahzad 110, Imran Farhat 63, Zohaib Khan 59, Ramiz Aziz 43; Zahid Mansoor 4-52, Muhammad Irfan 2-55, Waqas Maqsood 2-57). Wapda 318-3 in 45.1 overs (Kamran Akmal 200, Salman Butt 59, Aamir Sajjad 40 not out; Muhammad Bilal 2-53). Result: Wapda won by 7 wickets.

At NBP Stadium, Karachi: KRL 177-10 in 48 overs (Nouman Ali 31, Hasan Raza 23; Bilal Asif 3-43, Kamran Ghulam 2-36). NBP 168-10 in 47.4 overs (Usama Ali 40, Kamran Ghulam 36, Hamza Paracha 32; Sadaf Hussain 3-22, Ali Shafiq 2-30). Result: KRL won by 9 runs.

At State Bank Ground, Karachi: PTV 253-8 in 50 overs (Nihal Mansoor 58, Saud Shakeel 41, Hasan Raza 39, Hasan Mohsin 28, Taimoor Khan 27, Muhammad Irfan 26; Muhammad Abbas 2-33, Imran Khalid 2-27). SNGPL 244-10 in 44.3 overs (Asad Shafiq 75, Hussain Talat 70, Khurram Shahzad 32; Athar Mahmood 5-28, Saud Shakeel 3-41). Result: PTV won by 9 runs.

At UBL Ground No 1, Karachi: UBL 265-8 in 50 overs (Umar Akmal 82, Ashiq Ali 41 not out, Saad Ali 38; Kashif Bhatti 2-27, Usama Mir 2-66, Adnan Ghous 2-68). SSGC 212-10 in 46.1 overs (Sami Arshad 88, Fawad Alam 47, Umar Amin 36; Muhammad Asghar 4-31, Sohaib Maqsood 2-32). Result: UBL won by 53 runs.
