Rs759m water schemes for Pindi

Rawalpindi: Under local development programme, Punjab government has approved six water supply schemes worth Rs759.96 million in PP-14 and PP-6 garrison city of Rawalpindi to resolve water shortage issue.

Contracts have been awarded for five water supply schemes while PC-1 worth Rs560 million has been submitted for Dhama Syedan water supply scheme on Adiala Road. Water and Sanitation Agency (Wasa) Deputy Director Azizullah Khan told ‘The News’ that all schemes have been approved and work has been awarded. “We have also submitted PC-1 worth Rs560 million for Dhama Syedan Phase-I and Phase-II water supply schemes on Adiala Road.

Work will be started soon on all schemes to provide pure drinking water to public of garrison city,” he claimed. He said that different kinds of works like installations of tube wells, filtration plants, distribution network and sewerage lines are included in these schemes.

According to details, PC-1 worth of Rs560 million to lay down water supply pipelines in Dhama Syedan Phase-II water supply scheme. Munawar Colony, Ali Town, Sadiq Town, Hill View Lane and Janjua Town areas under PP-6 are included in Phase-II and Rs250 million have been allocated for this phase.

Similarly, Kehkashan Colony, Sanjoli Street, Mohammadi Colony, Khayaban-e-Jinnah and some other areas are included in Dhama Syedan water supply scheme Phase-I and Rs310 million have been allocated for this purpose.

Water and Sanitation Agency (Wasa) has awarded work another water supply scheme in PP-14 worth of Rs199.96 million for 2017-18. This scheme was approved on November 24, 2017. There will be 17 tube wells, filtration plants, distribution works and sewerage lines.

Another water supply scheme in PP-6 has been approved on November 7, 2017 worth of Rs29.884 million. There will be four tube wells in different union councils of PP-6. Work has been awarded.

The water supply scheme to install tube wells here in Mazharabad, Palm city, Usman Colony and some other areas of this PP-6 jurisdiction was approved on November 7, 2017 at cost of Rs19.880 million. The water supply scheme regarding laying down sewerage lines at Garibabad and union council Rehmatabad were approved on December 12, 2017 in cost worth of Rs22 million. Contract for both the projects has already been awarded.
