300kg meat of dead animals destroyed

FAISALABAD: Livestock department here destroyed 300 kilograms of meat of dead animals' on Friday. District Officer (DO) Livestock Dr Saleha Gull said that the meat was seized from Chak 9 JB, where a team of livestock department conducted raid.

In my story “Only political government’s are on NAB radar”, published on Friday, it was written that during Musharraf’s rule changes in the Islamabad’s master plan were made for financial benefits of Musharraf’s chief of staff. Three cops killed in Faisalabad

FAISALABAD: Three cops were killed when some terrorists opened fire at a police patrol here on Friday evening. During routine patrolling, the police signaled a suspected vehicle at the Miran Wala Bangla Bypass to stop. The suspects instead of stopping the vehicle opened fire, killing three cops on the spot and escaped.  The bodies were moved to a hospital where they were handed over to the heirs after postmortem.  A heavy contingent of police cordoned off the area soon after the incident and launched a search operation but the assailants managed to flee. 

 

Senior Jang reporter attacked in Pindi

RAWALPINDI: Senior reporter of Jang, Ayub Nasir, has been injured in an attack on him by unidentified car riders. He was going to his home in the Media Town from his office in Blue Area on Friday night when a car intercepted him near the PWD Colony. Three unidentified men came out of the car, foulmouthed Nasir and roughed him up. He got injuries on his face and head. The attackers then ran away. Senior police officers got details of the incident from Nasir. They are committed to arresting the attackers and bringing them to book.

 

Govt urged to make pro-farmer policies

OKARA: PTI leader Ch Abdus Sattar Wahla has said that farmers are facing problems due to wrong policies of the government and demanded the government make pro-farmers policies.Talking to media here on Friday, the PTI leader said that cultivators of potato, sugarcane, maize and other crops were facing problems due to high rates of agri drugs and chemicals and increased rates of electricity for tube-wells. He blamed that the government did not support farmers by taking pro-farmers steps, adding that growers were neglected every time and they were forced to sell their crops at low prices. He said that farmers who had put every thing for betterment of their crops were getting nothing from market, which was alarming. He said that those farmers who obtained loans for their crops were forced to sell their property to pay their installments. He said that farmers especially potato growers were looking towards the government for help and relief.

Two kiln owners, their managers booked

KASUR: Police on Friday booked two kiln owners and their two managers under the Child Labour Act in various incidents here. AC Mashood Shorish along with the police raided the kilns of Muhammad Ramzan and Mehr Shaukat at Lakhney Ki and at Wadana areas respectively and found that Abdullah (10) and Faisal (13) were busy working at the kilns. Later, the police registered cases against the kiln owners and their two managers.

 

JI rally in Multan for cut in POL prices

MULTAN: Activists of the Jamaat-e-Islami on Friday staged a demonstration against inflation and demanded reduction in fuel prices.  The JI activists led by JI Punjab naib ameer Ch Aziz Latif chanted slogans against inflation and high rates of POL products and blocked Masoom Shah Road in protest. Speaking on the occasion, Ch Aziz criticised the government for ever increasing inflation and demanded immediate cut in fuel prices. JI Multan district ameer Asif Mehmood, Dr Khalid Rashid, Maulana Bashir, Khawaja Muhammad Asim, Dr Ashraf Ali Atiq and others also spoke.

 

Lightning kills youth in Bahawalpur

BAHAWALPUR: A youth was killed and his brother suffered burns when lightning struck them on Friday. Muhammad Nadeem, 18, and his brother Muhammad Saeed of Basti Qaziwala, Chishtian, were present at their house when the lightning struck them.  They suffered critical burns and were on the way to THQ hospital, Chishtian when Nadeem succumbed to his injuries. Two buffaloes and a cow were also burnt to death by the lightning.

 

Three held with narcotics in Okara

OKARA: Police on Friday arrested three alleged drug pushers and recovered narcotics from them in separate incidents here. On a tip-off, Sadar police raided and arrested Saqib Masih of 36/3R village with 1,250 grams charas, City Depalpur police nabbed Sadiq with 30 litres brewed wine and Renala Khurd police arrested Peter Masih of 20/2L with 2,400 grams charas. The police have registered separate cases.

 

Four friends killed in Jhang accident

JHANG: Four friends were killed in a road accident near Malkana Mor on Friday. Chand Khan, Shahzad, Kamran and Malik Asif were returning back to Jhang from Tremun Bridge when a trailer while crossing their car fell on their vehicle. As a result, all four car riders died on the spot.

 

Drug peddler held in Lalamusa

LALAMUSA: Police Friday arrested an alleged drug peddler and recovered more than 1kg drug from him. Reportedly, the Jaterya police post in-charge on a tip-off arrested Dildar of Serwani village and recovered some 1,200 gram drugs from him. No case was registered till the filing of the report.

One electrocuted in Bahawalpur

BAHAWALPUR: An eight-year-old girl was electrocuted at Sarkari village, Chishtian on Friday. She was passing near an electric pole when accidently she touched a hanging electricity wire and died on the spot.
