Bajiya passes away at 86
President, PM condole her death
KARACHI: Famous novelist and playwright Fatima Surayya Bajiya, 86, passed away in Karachi on Wednesday.
She was born in Hyderabad (India) in 1930. Bajiya started her career as an actress in a play aired by PTV in 1966. From then, she adopted writing as a career. She wrote more than 10 plays and drama serials. Her most famous plays included Aroosa, Zeenat, Shama and Afshan.
Fatima Surayya Bajiya won many awards for her work. Her awards included the Pride of Performance Award, Hilal-i-Imtiaz and Japan’s highest civil award. She also worked as an adviser to the Sindh chief minister.
She was a renowned personality due to her work for radio, television and stage.Meanwhile, President Mamnoon Hussain and Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif have condoled the sad demise of Fatima Surayya Bajiya and sympathised with her family and prayed for the departed soul.
