ISLAMABAD: PML-N Leader Chaudhry Muhammad Ashraf Gujjar Advocate has resigned from his position as Member Pemra (Pakistan Electronic Media Regulatory Authority) in view of his serious reservation against Authority’s new administration.

He shall submit a detailed report to the prime minister about the present affairs of Pemra and reasons behind his resignation, said a press release issued here on Wednesday. Gujjar has stated in his resignation letter to the president that in pursuance of Section 6 of the Pemra Ordinance 2002, your good-self was pleased to appoint the undersigned as Member Pemra on the recommendations of the Prime Minister of Pakistan.

“I accepted this assignment as a sacred duty to serve the nation with religious dedication. I was the first member who even refused to accept the honorarium paid to the members for attending meetings of the Authority.

“In the given circumstances, I find that I am unable to serve the institution (i.e. Pemra) or the nation in my capacity as Member Pemra.  “I shall very soon be submitting my reasons and reservations behind my resignation to the Honble Prime Minister of Pakistan.  “In view of above I herby tender my resignation from my assignment as Member Pemra,” he said in the letter.
