Four ‘Afghan intelligence officials’ sent to jail

A court on Saturday sent four suspected agents of an Afghan intelligence agency to the central prison on judicial custody for 14 days.
Four men, Ammanullah, Abdul Aziz, Abdul Ghaffar and Hakimullah, who are alleged to have violated the provision of the Foreigners Act, hail from th Ghazni province of Afghanistan.
Acting on a tip-off, law enforcement agencies arrested the four alleged officials on Friday in Rizvia Society.
The Rizvia police produced them before the court of the judicial magistrate (Central-XII) amid heavy security.
The court sent the accused to the central prison on judicial custody for 14 days.
Earlier, the investigation officer (IO) informed the court that all the four accused were working for Afghan intelligence.
The court directed the IO to submit the final charge sheet against the accused at the next hearing.
Meanwhile, two men, Rehan Hussain alias Behari and Kamran alias Muna aka Tarang, were identified by a witness as the killers of a citizen, Raha Muhammad Amir, in 2012 in the area of Bilal Colony.
The two accused are said to have affiliation with a political party.
The two accused were brought to the court amid heavy security.
Meanwhile, charges were framed against the alleged murderer of five men, including Maulana Akbar Saeed Farooqui.
Farhat Abbas Zaidi. Zaidi, an activist of a political party, pleaded not guilty, and an anti-terrorism court (ATC) issued notices to the prosecution witnesses to come and record their evidence against the accused.
Farhat Abbas Zaidi is alleged to have killed Maulana Akbar Saeed Farooqui on August 25, 2012 and on October 25, 2013 he had killed Abdul Shakoor, Umar, Asadullah and Imran in the Mubina Town police limits.
Meanwhile, the additional district and sessions judge Central (V) awarded five years’ imprisonment to two men, Azhar and Haseeb, for having possessed illegal arms.
The two accused were arrested in February 2015. Azhar was arrested from Sharifabad, whereas Haseeb was apprehended from North Nazimabad in February 2015.
