Mamnoon first president to deliver speech in Urdu abroad
Second World Internet Conference in China
ISLAMABAD: President Mamnoon Hussain made history by delivering his speech in Urdu on a foreign soil and in an international gathering when he addressed the 2nd World Internet Conference held at river town of Wuzhen in Zhejiang province of China.
It was for the first time that a Pakistani president addressed an international event abroad in Urdu, which would not only help promote country’s national language and pride but would also highlight its rich cultural heritage.
The conference organised by the Cyberspace Administration of China and the government of Zhejiang province was also addressed by President of China Xi Jinping in Chinese language.
According to the Presidency President Mamnoon Hussain in his speech at the forum highlighted the need to make collective global efforts to check the abuse of cyberspace and Internet by terrorists and criminals. The president during his visit to China besides addressing the Internet conference also had a bilateral meeting with Chinese President Xi Jinping and attended a cultural event hosted in his honour by the government of Zhejiang province.
