13 passengers burnt alive as van catches fire near Bhera
SARGODHA: The death toll reached 13 in an accident on Thursday in the Bhera police limits. A police spokesman said a passenger van was on its way on the Motorway from Lahore to Islamabad when it caught fire due to short circuit and collided with a pillar of flyover near Khan Muhammad Wala in Bhera jurisdiction. The vehicle was completely burnt and as a result 13 people were burnt alive while six others injured.
The injured passengers were shifted to the THQ hospital Bhera and three were referred to Lahore due to critical condition. The names of deceased and injured could not be ascertained so far. The Punjab government has sought report from authorities concerned about the accident. According to Sargodha DPO’s spokesperson, the accident happened due to explosion of a cylinder. Bodies were handed over to the family members after autopsy.
