KARACHI: Despite facing tough time from the rival group back at home Pakistan Football Federation’s (PFF) president Faisal Saleh Hayat on Tuesday retained his seat when he was re-appointed as chairman AFC legal committee for 2015-2019.
He served in the same capacity from 2011 to 2015.
“In view of the meritorious services rendered by Faisal for the football of Asia he has again been appointed as chairman AFC legal committee for the term 2015-2019 by the AFC president Sheikh Salman Bin Ebrahim Al-Khalifa,” a PFF news release said on Tuesday.
Faisal was recently elected as member of the AFC executive committee.
“My appointment as AFC legal committee chairman shows the trust the Asian football family has reposed in me,” Faisal was quoted as saying. “As head of the AFC legal committee I will serve the football of Asia to the best of my ability,” he added.
Faisal has been facing a stiff challenge from his rival group led by Arshad Khan Lodhi.
He also faces a contempt of court petition for holding the PFF elections on June 30 despite a stay order by the Lahore High Court.
They claimed that they had not received the court order. His faction has been deprived of its secretariat. His fate will be known when the courts give their verdicts.
