Man drowns in canal
LAHORE
A 35-year-old man drowned in a canal in the Batapur area on Sunday. The victim was swimming to beat the heat when he drowned. Rescue teams fished out his body. Police were investigating the matter further and trying to ascertain his identity.
Rescue 1122: The Punjab Emergency Service director general has stressed upon the rescue and safety officers to arrange activities for mobilising the power of humanity under the umbrella of Rescue Mohafiz Programme to establish sustainable, healthy, safe, resilient and prosperous communities in Punjab.
He asked the citizens of the province to become members of the Community Emergency Response Teams (CERTs) of their respective union councils and play their due role in public service. He expressed these views while addressing a ceremony of Rescue Mohafiz Programme organised at the Managers Training Centre, Emergency Services Academy, Lahore.
