ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif Monday made a phone call to Turkey’s President Recep Tayyip Erdogan and Prime Minister Ahmed Davutoglu to congratulate them on the victory of their Justice and Development Party in Sunday’s polls.
Sources in the PM House told The News that the prime minister expressed hope that brotherly ties between the two countries would further strengthen under their perceptive leadership. Talking to President Erdogan, Nawaz said Turkish people had expressed their unflinching confidence in his leadership and his party for further development and progress of their country.
He paid rich tribute to the sagacious leadership of the president and wisdom of the people of Turkey in making the historic verdict. Meanwhile, sources said that Ahmed Davutoglu will undertake Pakistan’s visit next month and it would be his first ever visit outside Turkey after assuming the office for the third time.
Nawaz is likely to dash to Ankara this week to felicitate Erdogan on the historic victory of his party in general elections.Well-placed sources said the triumph of incumbent ruling party in Turkey was being welcomed widely in Pakistan since two brotherly countries had been enjoying excellent ties during the present government of Turkey under President Erdogan.
Turkey’s ambassador to Pakistan Babur Sadik Girgin and other Turkish diplomats posted in Pakistan also celebrated the results of Sunday’s polls.A festive mood has been prevailing at the Turkish mission in Islamabad for last two days, as Turkey has again entered the era of stability and progress after brief pause of uncertainty.
Interestingly, the leaders of the two brotherly countries are enjoying close friendly relationship and the same is helping in strengthening of ties between the two countries.The sources said Chief Minister Punjab Shahbaz Sharif could proceed to Ankara if Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif couldn’t take out time due to his domestic engagements in the country.
