Two minors die as house roof collapses
LAHORE
Two minor sisters were killed while their mother and two other sisters received injuries when the roof of their house collapsed in the Manawan police limits on Wednesday.
The injured persons were shifted to Services Hospital where the condition of victim woman was stated to be critical. The bodies of two minors were handed over to their father. The victims have been identified as Maryam, 5, and Javeria, 7, the daughters of Hanif, a resident of Jandiala village.
The injured persons were identified as Zarina, 42, Ayesha, 22, and Hafsa, 2. The head of the family was sleeping in the courtyard at the time of the incident. The other victims were sleeping in the room when the newly-constructed roof caved in. Rescuers reached the scene after being informed and recovered victims from the debris.
Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif has expressed grief over the death of two girls due to collapse of a roof in Manawan and sympathised with the bereaved family. The chief minister directed that best treatment facilities be provided to the injured.
CRACKDOWN: Chief Traffic Officer Tayyab Hafeez Cheema has ordered to launch a crackdown against beggars in the City to maintain flow of traffic during Ramazan. CTO warned traffic wardens negligence in this regard will not be tolerated at any cost. Cheema also directed the officers concerned to send progress report on action against beggars on daily basis. Traffic wardens took action against beggars at Lorri Adda, Yadgar, Data Darbar, Yatim Khana, Nawankot and Regal. CTO also appealed to citizens to discourage beggars and inform about professional beggars at Helpline 1915.
ACCIDENTS: At least 578 road traffic accidents were reported in Provincial Monitoring Cell of Punjab Emergency Service (Rescue 1122) in all districts of Punjab during the last 24 hours; in which five lives were lost and 464 serious injured were shifted to different hospitals of relevant districts. However, some 211 victims, who sustained minor injuries, were discharged on the spot after provision of first aid by Emergency Medical Teams.
probe: IGP has taken notice of an incident in which a woman was misbehaved at the Shera Kot police picket on Wednesday.
He directed the CCPO Lahore to conduct an inquiry into the incident and take department action against the responsible police officials if they were found involved in the said incident.
