Gang-rape victim murdered for resisting second abduction bid

BUREWALA: A gang-rape victim was murdered for resisting second abduction bid by the alleged rapists at Chak 277/EB on Tuesday night. Five people Khadim Hussain, Muhammad Iqbal, Umar Daraz, Muhammad Shafique and Faryad Ali allegedly abducted Kalsoom, daughter of Muhammad Sharif, on May 26. The accused raped her for seven days. Later, M Sharif managed to get back his daughter through a Panchayat. Two days ago, the same accused again came to the house of M Sharif and tried to abduct the victim, but she and her family resisted. To it, the accused shot at and injured her. Kalsoom was shifted to the Multan Nishtar Hospital where she succumbed to injuries. Gaggo Mandi police registered a murder case against the victim’s family and refused to hand over the body. To it, the victim’s family along with relatives staged a demonstration against the police on the Multan Road. Three protesting women fainted due to the scorching heat. The protesters dispersed when DSP Zulfiqar Ali Sandrana assured the family of justice.
