KARACHI: National Bank of Pakistan (NBP) football team head coach Nasir Ismail on Sunday lashed out at the decision of the bank’s sports head for not picking his footballers in the Strategic and Marketing Division (SMD) cricket team for a 16-team Inter-Group Cricket event which is in progress here at the NBP Sports Complex.
“I protest against the decision of our sports head Awais Asad Khan for ignoring our footballers who have played a key role in the bank’s corporate image building,” Nasir told ‘The News’.
“In the SMD outfit, first-class cricketers and international hockey players have been included, while not a single footballer has been taken which is a biased approach,” said Nasir, also a former Pakistan’s assistant coach.
“When I asked the sports head that why he had ignored our footballers, he told me he is the man and can do everything. No body can stop him,” Nasir added.
He appealed to the NBP president for taking notice of what had been done with the footballers.
He said that the event was basically meant not only for cricketers but for those NBP employees who were fond of cricket.
