Hearing adjourned in Axact case till June 10

Key accused Shoaib Sheikh not produced as usual

KARACHI: Additional District and Sessions Judge South Sohail Muhammad Leghari on Thursday adjourned the hearing of the Axact case till June 10. As usual the key accused in the case Shoaib Sheikh was not produced before the court while his counsel Shaukat Hayat and other accused Yunus and Junaid, who are on bail, were present on the occasion. The AG Legal also appeared before the court. Earlier, the case was under trial in the court of Additional District and Sessions Judge Judicial Complex Sikandar Amir Panhwar but was later transferred to the existing court.

 

Jirga orders two brothers to ‘put shoes in their mouths’

NAUSHEHRO FEROZE: An illegal Jirga punished two real brothers to hold their shoes with their teeth because their donkey cart has collided with the car of the Jirga head. According to details, a local Wadera and leader of ruling Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) held a Jirga headed by him at bungalow at Villahe Phul and ordered two real brothers whose donkey cart had collided with his car to carry their shoes with their teeth in the presence of hundreds of villagers. Both real brothers, Sohail and Ayaz, who are manual labourers by profession, obeyed the order of the Jirga, took their shoes with their mouth and apologised with the Wadera for their mistake. The video of this inhuman Jirga has become viral and social and political circles have strongly condemned the PPP leader for his inhuman attitude.

 

Man kills married sister

JHANG: A man killed his married sister over a domestic dispute here on Thursday. Sumera Bibi had been living with her parents after differences with her husband. Her brother Amanullah was unhappy with her for living with her parents despite being married. On the day of the incident, Amanullah and his sister Sumera exchanged harsh words over the issue. In the meantime, Amanullah allegedly axed Sumera to death. Sadr police have started investigation after shifting the body to the DHQ Hospital for autopsy.

 

Man kills wife over domestic issue

OKARA: A man killed his wife over a domestic dispute at Qasim Kay Mehr on Thursday. The daughter-in-law of Abbas Shah had been living with her parents after a dispute with her in-laws. Abbas Shah wanted to bring her back but his wife Kausar Bibi resisted. It led to a quarrel between Abbas and his wife Kausar. In a fit of frustration, Abbas allegedly attacked his wife with a brick. As a result, she received serious head injuries and fell unconscious. She was shifted to a hospital in Lahore where she died. Basirpur police have registered a case.

 

Seven-year-old girl raped

BAHAWALPUR: A seven-year-old girl was raped at Chamb Morr on borderline area of Bahawalpur and Lodhran districts on Wednesday night. According to M Mushtaq, his daughter Sohana was on way home from a nearby house when an unidentified man abducted and raped her. Later, the accused left the victim near her house in an unconscious condition. She was shifted to the Bahawal Victoria Hospital. According to BVH Emergency Ward Director Dr Amir Mehmood Bukhari, the victim was raped. Lodhran Sadr police have not registered a case till the filing of the report.

 

Train kills man in Okara

OKARA: A train Thursday killed a man. Unidentified man of fifty years old was crossing railway track near the city railway level crossing when the Express Train coming from Karachi hit him and killed him on the spot.

 

Hepatitis spreading rapidly in Faisalabad, says MNA

FAISALABAD: Hepatitis is spreading at a fast pace in Faisalabad due to polluted drinking water supply, said MNA Mian Abdul Mannan. Talking to newsmen here on Thursday, he said that construction of a full-fledged Liver Hospital in the populous industrial city was imperative to save the citizens from the disease.

He said that he recently met Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif and submitted a proposal for the construction of a liver hospital as the present liver centre being run by the philanthropists was not coping with the increasing number of hepatitis patients. The MNA claimed that the prime minister had agreed to grant approval for the project, which was expected to be announced by the prime minister in near future.

 

Body of woman recovered from River Kabul

NOWSHERA: Police on Thursday recovered a body of an unidentified young woman - stuffed in a gunny sack - from River Kabul. Residents of Akora Khattak informed the police after they recovered the body floating near the bank of River Kabul. The police after taking the body into custody sent it for the postmortem and placed it for identification in the precinct of Akora Khattak police station. However, nobody came forward to claim the body. The body with a headshot had decomposed as it stayed floating for a long time in the water, said the police.The body was buried in Municipal Committee graveyard in Akora Khattak.

 

Nine injured in Swabi cylinder explosion

SWABI: Nine persons of a family sustained injuries in a gas cylinder explosion in Marghuz village here on Thursday, police and family sources said.The said that the family of one Sher Ghulam in Marghuz village was preparing meal when the cylinder exploded.As a result, Sher Ghulam, Azhar Khan, Yaseen Khan, Talha Khan, Yahya Khan, Sher Ghulan’s wife and two daughters and one nephew sustained injuries. The injured were taken to the Bacha Khan Medical Complex in Shahmansoor wherefrom they were shifted to a hospital in Peshawar.

 

Two killed in Landikotal incidents

LANDIKOTAL: Two persons, including a student, were killed in two different incidents in Landikotal tehsil of Khyber Agency on Thursday.A youth identified as Inamullah, 17, was hit by a speeding truck near the Government High School in Landikotal, leaving him critically injured.The locals attempted to take him to the Agency Headquarters Hospital but he breathed his last before reaching to the health facility.Meanwhile, an eight-year-old boy identified as Rahim died when a roof of a house caved-in in Mirdadkhel village in Landikotal.

 

13-year-old student abducted

Four of a family killed in Lower Dir road accident

TIMERGARA: Four persons of a family were killed and another sustained injuries when a mini-truck fell into a ravine at Nanbati Maidan in Lower Dir on Thursday, police officials said. They said the ill-fated vehicle was on its way to Nanbati from Kumbar bazaar when it fell into the ravine at Nanbati while negotiating a sharp turn.The officials said driver Sargand Khan, his two sons Gul Sharif and Kamran and his daughter-in-law Hayat Pari died on the spot while his brother Muhammad Sharif sustained injuries. Meanwhile, moving scenes were witnessed when bodies of four persons from the same family were taken for burial. A large number of locals attended the funeral prayers at Nanbati.
