Peace committee surrenders weapons in Mohmand
GHALLANAI: The disbanded Khwezai Amn Committee on Thursday surrendered weapons to the political administration in Mohmand Agency unconditionally and handed over the volunteers who had misbehaved with the political officials.
A four-member committee comprising former Senator Malik Abdul Rehman Faqir, Malik Nadir Manan Kodakhel, Haji Jalil Khan and Malik Sultan was active for quite some time to settle the issue.
Chief of the disbanded peace committee Malik Fayyaz Khan and volunteers surrendered the weapons in the presence of the jirga members at Bhai Dag Camp in Baizai sub-division of Mohmand Agency.
He also handed over the volunteers who misbehaved with officials of the political administration in July 2015.Malik Fayyaz said that he and Khwezai tribespeople had supported the political administration unconditionally in the past and rendered tremendous sacrifices for restoration of peace and maintaining government’s writ there.
He said they would continue to support the government and political administration in future as well.The political administration imposed Rs1 million fine on the committee and released the volunteers on personal surety of the jirga.
