Hot weather record broken in several Sindh cities; high temperatures hamper daily routines
LAHORE/ISLAMABAD: Various parts of the country remained under the influence of extremely hot weather throughout entire Wednesday and the sizzling temperatures badly affected the daily lives of people, reported a private TV channel. On the other hand, power outages added more miseries for the people.
Weather in the city of Larkana was recorded at 51 degrees Celsius whereas in Sukkur and Hyderabad it was recorded at 50 and 49 degrees Celsius respectively. Similar weather conditions were recorded in other cities of Sindh, including Dadu, Jacobabad and Mohenjodaro.
Citizens of Lahore also had to experience a sizzling hot temperature throughout the day with the streets becoming deserted. At 46 degrees Celsius, Wednesday was the hottest day of the season for the provincial capital. Weather in other cities of Punjab was also extremely hot like 45C in Faisalabad and Bahawalpur and 44C in Sahiwal.
Meteorologists predict that the heatwave will last for another couple of days as there are no imminent signs of rain. Health experts have suggested people to stay indoors and to take appropriate measures in order to withstand the ferocious weather.
Meanwhile, people experienced power outages during the sizzling hot weather on Wednesday in different parts of the country. It not only disturbed their routine work but also created water shortages.
APP adds: The Met Office has warned about very hot and dry weather during the coming week all over the country.In a statement, the Met Office said the plains of Punjab, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Balochistan and Sindh would be the centre of heatwaves where day temperature would cross 45C and central parts could touch the critical level of 51 Centigrade, a private news channel reported.Temperature in the mountainous areas of GB and AJK will also rise to above average, resulting in rapid melting of snow and glaciers.
