LAHORE: In connection with Pakistan Day, Punjab Governor Rafique Rajwana conferred civil awards on 24 personalities for their meritorious services in various fields.
A simple ceremony was held at the Governor’s House Wednesday in which people belonging to fields of science and technology, education, literature, agriculture, social services, journalism, fine arts, public services and music were honoured with civil awards.
Seven people including Prof Dr Talat Naseer Pasha, Prof Dr Arshad Ali, Prof Dr Shahbaz Malik, Mian Aijazul Hassan, Masood Ashar, Prof Khalida Tareen and Muhammad Sheharyar Sultan were awarded Sitara-e-Imtiaz. Thirteen people were presented presidential awards for Pride of Performance: Dr Nazeer Ahmad, Ikramullah, Ahmad Saeed, Prof Muhammad Zakria Zakir, Amir Sohail, Wajahat Masood, Wasif Nagi, Muneer Ahmad Muneer, Masood Athar, Khalid Saleem Butt, Waseem Abbas, late Ustad Natho Khan and Aijaz Qaiser.
Moreover, four personalities namely Dr Muhammad Ali, Najeebuddin Jamal, Jamil Athar Qazi and Dr HK Zahid were given Tamgha-e-Imtiaz.
