PFUJ factions get united, body formed to hold polls
ISLAMABAD: Different factions of Pakistan Federal Union of Journalists (PFUJ) have got united after efforts of two and a half years as s committee has been formed with mutual agreement of both the factions that will take over powers after notification.
Headed by M Ziauddin, the committee has members from both Afzal Butt and Rana Azeem factions. Committee Secretary CR Shamsi said that Butt had handed over keys of the central secretariat of the Union to M Ziauddin in presence of committee members and observers Rahimullah Yousafzai, Nasir Zaidi, Hussain Naqi, and Fauzia Shahid. Representatives of both Butt and Azeem signed the agreement on behalf of their leaders. Committee welcomed Rana Azeem and brought the document to his vehicle as he was not well, where he signed it and expressed confidence in the committee. He said the committee had assured him that all affairs would be dealt with in accordance with the constitution.
Praising the development, M Ziauddin said, "PFUJ is a forceful body that has the power to bring governments down to accept rights of the journalists." He assured journalists that the committee would run the affairs as per the constitution and hold elections before giving control to the elected leaders.
