 Two killed as passenger coach overturns near Mach

SIBBI: Two passengers were killed and several sustained injuries as a speedy coach overturned near Mach on Thursday. According to details, a coach (No BSA 0088) was going to Quetta form Sibbi. When it reached at Azmat Shaheed Post of FC near Mach, it went out of control and overturned. As a result two passengers Sher Muhammad and Nadeem Khan died instantly. Sher Wali, Tota Khan, Rahim Bakhsh, Qadir Bakhsh, Ayesha Bibi and others sustained injuries and were shifted to hospitals at Sibbi and Mach. They were later referred to Quetta. The condition of several inured persons is stated to be serious.

 

Pemra panel seeks halt to ads of quacks, hakeems

ISLAMABAD: The Pemra Council of Complaints Thursday asked for immediately halting ads on cable TV channels, FM radios and by cable operators about quacks, hakeems, peers and aalims. At the council’s meeting in Peshawar, the council asked all the TV channels, FM radios and cable operators to stop showing ads on quacks, hakeems, peers and aalims, failing which a strict action would be taken against them.

 

Married woman gang-raped

FAISALABAD: A married woman was gang-raped at Chak 122/GB on Wednesday night. Ashfaq and two others entered the house of Yasmin and allegedly raped her. Dijkot police have registered a case against the accused and started investigation.

 

Sit-in of powerloom workers enters fourth day in Faisalabad

FAISALABAD: The sit-in of powerloom workers entered the fourth day near the DCO Office here on Thursday. Thousands of powerloom workers along with their families and children also staged a demonstration and marched on Zila Council Road. They were carrying banners and placards. Addressing the protesters, powerloom workers’ leader Meraj Malik and others demanded substantial increase their daily wages, issuance of social security cards and their registration with the EOBI.

 

PM prays for speedy recovery of Syed Ali Geelani

ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif on behalf of the people of Pakistan as well as on his own behalf has prayed for speedy recovery of Hurriyat leader Syed Ali Shah Geelani, who suffered a heart attack in New Delhi Thursday morning.  In a message, the premier said Syed Geelani’s indefatigable leadership is a beacon of freedom for the people of Jammu and Kashmir. We pray for his quick recovery and good health.

 

Rabbani wants laws for all

LAHORE: Senate Chairman Raza Rabbani has said the law should be implemented without discrimination in the country. Talking to the media after visiting Senator Aitzaz Ahsan’s residence here on Thursday, he said the Senate was working for the supremacy of the law as five types of laws were functioning in the society. He said the autonomy of provinces needed a strong federation and implementation of the 18th Amendment would strengthen the federation. He stressed curbing corruption in the society and said accountability should be across the board.

 

Motorcyclist killed

CHAKWAL: A motorcyclist was killed in an accident near Mureed village on Wednesday.Faisal Anwar along with his brother’s wife was heading to Bhagwal village on a motorcycle when a speeding truck hit them on the Chakwal-Talagang Road, leaving Faisal dead on the spot and the women injured.
