Bahria Town to have digital mobile financial services

The services include all kinds of utilities, maintenance payments, salary disbursements
and payments to other service providers and contractors; Malik Riaz announces to form Pakistan Fund for education, health facilities
with focus on Sindh, Punjab

ISLAMABAD: Chairman Bahria Town Malik Riaz said that he was going to establish Pakistan Fund for taking over hospitals and educational institutions especially in Punjab and Sindh for providing quality services to people of Pakistan.

“Different institutions are not performing up to the mark so we have decided to establish Pakistan Fund for working in area of health and education. We will get 200,000 children into our educational institutions,” Malik Riaz said on the occasion of signing agreement with Mobilink for launching digital mobile financial services for Bahria town residents here on Tuesday.

When asked by a journalist about difficulties faced by him in the past, he said that with the grace of Almighty Allah, his problems were resolvedthrough prayers at night. He said that Pakistan was lagging almost 100 years behind in terms of development as compared with developed world. “Our institutions must work for the sake of people of Pakistan,” he added.

“We will provide same facilities in these hospitals as are being provided in our existing hospitals and we will provide medical care free of cost,” he said and added “with the grace of Almighty Allah, no one will be able to stop us”.

The Mobilink’s CEO Jeffry Hedberg said on the occasion that the world was witnessing digital revolution so efforts were underway to find out how Pakistan could benefit from this partnership. “The residents of Bahria Town can go ahead by paying education fee, utility bills and other services through our partnership,” he added.

He said that they always tried to retain right people for right partnership and Bahria Town possessed unbelievable track record. According to the announcement, as part of its digital ‘Exceleration’ initiative, Mobilink has partnered with Pakistan’s largest real estate developer, Bahria Town, after a signing ceremony between the two entities. Under this partnership, Mobilink will launch its Digital Mobile Financial Services Platform for Bahria Town residents, making it the largest private sector enterprise to transform and lead in deployment of its first digital economy module.

Bahria Town’ s decision to partner with Mobilink is based on the Telco’s robust, secure and advanced ICT infrastructure, coupled with its fastest and most extensive 3G network all over Pakistan. This partnership is also in line with the real-estate developer’s goal of digital transformation under its Bahria ICT based Smart City initiative. 

Speaking at the signing ceremony, President and CEO – Mobilink, Jeffrey Hedberg said, “This partnership is the first step towards Digital Evolution, as it provides Bahria Town with the most robust digital financial services platform for transactions on Mobilink’s resilient 3G and fixed data networks. Further, this platform will be extended to other communications through our M2M, IOT (Internet of things) and Sensors offerings for full scale Smart City deployments.”

Bahria Town will use Mobilink’s digital platform for financially interconnecting its residents and customers. These services include Business-to-Business (B2B), Business-to-Clients (B2C) and Business-to-Public (B2P) services. Initially these services will include all kinds of utilities & maintenance payments, salary disbursements and payments to other service providers and contractors.

“We will be utilising Mobilink’s Digital Financial Services platform to initiate outbound and inbound transactions. In the next phase we plan to use it for financial transfers between all our service providers, be it schools, hospitals or maintenance services.
