Three FC soldiers among 9 dead in Quetta blast, dozens hurt

QUETTA: Three FC soldiers and six civilians lost their lives while 25 others sustained wounds when a powerful blast ripped through Jinnah Road here on Saturday, official sources confirmed.

According to spokesman of Balochistan government, the bomb blast appears to be suicidal and in the same breath added that explosives could be strapped to a bicycle.

He said the attack could be a reaction against actions being taken against the terrorists.

Heavy contingents of police reached the spot of the blast while rescue and emergency services have shifted the injured to a local hospital.

According to police, the blast took place near Liaquat Park just when a security forces’ vehicle made its way from there.

The nature of the blast, which also damaged a number of vehicles parked near the blast site, is yet to be ascertained.

Chief Minister Balochistan Sanaullah Zehri has announced Rs1 million for each dead victim’s family and Rs500,000 each for injured.

PM Interior Minister strongly condemn Quetta blast

Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif and Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan strongly condemned the Quetta blast.

The PM directed the concerned authorities to provide best treatment facilities to the injured.

He said those involved in terrorism will be brought to justice.
