Karachi operation to continue till logical conclusion: COAS

KARACHI: Chief of Army Staff General Raheel Sharif visited the Corps Headquarters and was briefed by Corps Commander and DG Rangers on operational preparedness, Karachi operation and the latest law and order situation.

Army chief General Sharif commended law enforcement agencies specially the Rangers for the smooth NA-246 by-election. COAS also showed his satisfaction over intelligence input and progress of the Karachi operation.

COAS said the Karachi operation has brought relief in terms of target killing and extortion. General Sharif added that the operation would remain across the board, be indiscriminate and continue till its logical conclusion.

COAS Sharif further said peace in Karachi was a priority to revive economic vibrancy and well being of people, while the Army would continue to work with the people and government to finish all mafias in the city.

Army chief General Sharif also said the most recent pattern of killings indicates a design and needs to be checked, adding that intelligence agencies, Rangers have been directed to trace out, apprehend and expose the perpetrators.
