PAKISTAN: The PPP filed a reference on Monday seeking the disqualification of Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif, at the Election Commission of Pakistan's office.

Addressing media personnel outside the ECP's office, PPP representative Latif Khosa said that his party was submitting a reference against the Prime Minister which was based on 1000 pages.

"Not only Nawaz Sharif, we also presented ourselves before the courts," said Khosa. "We have collected income statements from 1985 which should be accounted for," he said.

Khosa also said on the occasion that a person who paid a tax of four to five thousand rupees could not be the owner of billions of rupees.

"It is the responsibility of the Election Commission not to let anyone who is dishonest and untrustworthy to remain a member of the parliament," he said.

Khosa said that the reference also contains the conflicting statements of the Sharif family with regard to the Panama leaks. He said that this time, neither the public would remain silent nor the PPP.

He also said that those world figures who had self-respect and who had been been named in the Panama Papers had resigned.

"The Sharif family has looted and robbed this country," he said. "Whoever's name is mentioned in the Panama leaks should be investigated," he stated.

He further lashed out at PM Nawaz and said that at the time of elections 2013, Nawaz Sharif and his family were defaulters of Rs 6.5 billion.

"We will not support rigging and corruption," he said. Neither will we support any unlawful or illegal step," he added.

Khosa also said that the purpose of the Charter of Democracy was not to grant support to the other party to indulge in corruption.
