THATTA : Police on Thursday claimed to have solved murder case of nationalist leader Jeay Sindh Tehreek Haji Shafi Karnani 24 hours after he was gunned down near Makli.
Addressing a press conference, SSP Thatta Fida Hussain Mastoi said that after the incident the FIR No79 2016 was registered at Thatta police station on the complaint
of Munawar Ali Karnani in which six residents of Redar Samma village near Thatta were nominated.
He said that police cordoned off the village and asked the resident to surrender the wanted persons. The SSP said that the villagers resorted to firing and pelted the police with stones.
He said the police formed a strategy of restraint to avoid any eventuality and succeeded in arresting four out of six nominated persons. The arrested suspects were presented before the journalists in the press conference. The SSP said that some weapons were also recovered from their possession.
He said that efforts were under way to apprehend the remaining two accused nominated in the FIR. Haji Shafi Karnani was shot dead while he was in his car near a petrol pump on Makli bypass road on Wednesday evening.
