Accused of attacking Junaid Jamshed arrested in Karachi
KARACHI: Police have nabbed an accused allegedly involved in attacking Junaid Jamshed from PECHS Karachi, police said on Thursday.
Police arrested accused Zainulabideen who had arrived from Islamabad, SSP East Faisal Abdullah Chachar said.
Sources said Zainulabideen will be transferred to Islamabad.
A case was registered against seven unknown persons who were allegedly involved in attacking Junaid Jamshed at Islamabad Airport. The case was lodged at Airport police Station.
A frenzied mob attacked Junaid Jamshed at the Benazir International Airport, accusing him of blasphemy on March 27.
The group chanted slogans against the preacher before beating him up. The security official came to his rescue and led him back to the arrival lounge of the airport.
A video of the incident that went viral on social media shows the preacher asking the crowd to talk to him instead of resorting to violence.
