ISLAMABAD : Pakistan Poeple's Party leader and former president of Pakistan Asif Ali Zardari on Sunday paid tribute to former prime minister and founding chairman of the PPP Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto on the eve of latter's 37th death anniversary.
In a statement issued by the PPP, Zardari said the example of Zulfikar Ali Bhutto has become more relevant now than ever before as the locus of power is shifting away from the people towards un-elected elements.
"Bhutto instilled in the people that they alone were the fountain of all political power and it is this realization that has not permitted dictatorship to take roots in the country," the statement quoted Mr Zardari as saying.
He said: “On the eve of 37th martyrdom anniversary of Shaheed Zulfikar Ali Bhutto I ask the democracy loving people to rededicate themselves to the idea that all power must flow from the ballot box and not from the bullet”.
