LAHORE: Federal Minister for Railways, Khawaja Saad Rafique Saturday said Pakistan Railways (PR) budget for sports will be raised to Rs3 billion in the next financial year while e-Ticketing will be introduced to facilitate the passengers.
Speaking at a ceremony to distribute prizes among players of PR, the Minister said Railways has always remained ahead of all in the national games and keeping that in view it has been decided to increase sports budget for the department from the financial year 2016-17.
He said presently the players are rewarded with a gold medal and cash prize of Rs10,000 which will be raised to Rs50,000.
Addressing a seminar earlier today, Khawaja Saad Rafique said that China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) will also help develop transportation system of the country.
He said the government is aiming for public-private partnership in both passenger and freight train operations.
