Russian authorities stop 138 Pakistanis at airport
MOSCOW: Russian security agencies have stopped around 138 Pakistanis at the airport and kept them in a room for over 23 hours before48 were sent back to Pakistan.
According to details, over 188 Pakistani businessmen arrived here to attend annual convention were stopped by immigration officials at the airport.
According to latest updates, 48 Pakistanis have been sent back to Pakistan via different flights. Sources said the 48 have already reached Turkey.
90 Pakistani traders are still stranded at two different airports in Russia. Sources say that efforts are underway to bring the remaining Pakistanis back to the country.
Pakistan’s Ambassador to Russian Qazi Khalilullah said the embassy was informed about the stranded Pakistanis at around 8:00 p.m last night, adding “We have raised the issue with Russian Foreign Ministry at the same time.”
Talking to Geo News, Qazi Khalilullah give the total number of Pakistanis stopped at airport to 84, however, sources said they were 188, of them 80 hails from Karachi, 35 from Lahore and remaining from Islamabad.
All the stranded people are mobile dealers and arrived Moscow on the invitation of a firm to attend annual convention.
The Pakistan’s Ambassador vowed to extend all out support to them.
Sources said the Pakistani businessmen have been kept in a room at the airport without food and water.
