Islamabad: Some half-hearted attempts on part of the Environment Wing of the CDA on Friday could not succeed in extinguishing the fire which erupted on the Margalla Hills on Thursday morning.
According to the ISPR, Pakistan Army troops reached Kalanger village with all the necessary equipment for firefighting. Four helicopters including of PAF busy in extinguishing the fire using bambi buckets. The CDA sources said the fire was still burning the bushes and small trees at three different areas and was out of control. An official said a little over 200 personnel of the Environment Wing were using method of bush beating to extinguishfire, but no significant success has been achieved. The official said a fire-fighting vehicle could only be taken to the site of fire near Klinger village overlooking, Sector E-9, while the rest of the areas were out of reach for any vehicle. The sources said the Environment Wing was not prepared to meet early eruption of fire before start of the summer.
