Anti-Rangers ads conspiracy against Karachi peace: Rangers spokesman

KARACHI: A spokesman for the paramilitary force said anti-Rangers advertisements printed in newspapers by a police officer were a conspiracy against peace in the city.

In a statement the spokesman added the purpose of the advertisements was to harm the ongoing operation in Karachi.

The spokesman further said the content of the advertisements was based on lies and there was a planned strategy to degrade the Rangers performance.

Meanwhile, Chief Minister Sindh Syed Qaim Ali Shah said a notice had been taken of the anti-Rangers advertisements.

Qaim Ali Shah told reporters action would be taken against those trying to create misunderstandings between the Rangers and police. The CM added that the Rangers had played a key role in establishing peace in Karachi.

On Tuesday, advertisements appeared in local newspapers seeking masses support to identify Rangers officials allegedly behind kidnapping of six missing citizens.

The advertisements read that the six missing persons had been taken away by unidentified Rangers personnel. The masses were urged in the ads to inform the DSP Orangi Town if they were aware of missing people’s whereabouts.

Speaking to Geo News late on Tuesday, AIG Mehar said the ads were published without approval, adding that Sindh government’s information department assisted in publishing the ads.

He said cases were lodged against the Pakistan Rangers Sindh upon court orders. Summary of first information report (FIR) was attached with the letter sent to the newspapers for the advertisements.
