GUJRANWALA: At least seven people were killed and several others injured after roof of a factory caved in following a boiler explosion on Saturday.
According to police, the factory located in Ghakar Mandi caught fire after the boiler explosion. Many many labourers were trapped under the debris.
Rescue sources said 15 workers have been retrieved while three more were still under the rubble. They said at least four people were killed in the incident.
Later, three more injured succumbed to their wounds increasing the total number of dead to seven. At least 19 others were injured in the incident.
The police said they have arrested owner of the factory. Fire tenders and ambulances rushed to the area to extinguish the fire and shift the dead and injured to hospitals.
Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif has expressed sorrow over the sad incident.
