ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) chairman Imran Khan on Wednesday called on Chief Election Commissioner Justice (redt) Sardar Raza Khan, demanding deployment of army in the upcoming by-polls.

PTI leaders Jehangir Khan Tarin and Asad Umar were accompanying Khan at the meeting during which PTI chief said he was assured by the CEC that shortcomings committed in the last general election would not be repeated in the future.

Talking to media after the meeting, Khan said he was pleased to learn that the chief election commissioner has initiated action over the shortcomings of the electoral body in the light of Judicial Commission’s report.

He announced that his party would hold a protest against the Election Commission September 4, reiterating his demand that all the four members of the ECP must resign as they had lost moral ground after judicial commission’s report.

Imran Khan said he also requested the chief election commissioner to let the judges of Election Tribunals work as long as they were hearing pending cases, and stop the misuse of development fund.

Sources told Geo News the CEC asked PTI chairman Imran Khan to review his decision of holding protest against the Election Commission.
