RAWALPINDI: At least four army personnel were martyred and as many injured when a rocket landed on a check-post in Khyber Agency near Afghan border, said the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) on Sunday.

The funeral prayers of martyred security personnel have been offered at corps headquarters Peshawar.

According to the Pakistan Army's media wing, unidentified terrorists targeted the military check-post, located at an altitude of 8,000 feet, from across the border.

Responding to the attack, the Pakistan Army destroyed a militant hideout, killing many terrorists, the ISPR added.

The attack comes days after Afghanistan’s Ambassador to Pakistan Janan Mosazai was called in by Foreign Secretary Aizaz Ahmad Chaudhry to convey concerns over recent spate of Afghan government’s allegations and media campaign to malign Pakistan.

“The Foreign Secretary stressed that such allegations undercut mutual confidence and affect the environment of bilateral relations that both countries had been working hard to improve,” said a statement issued by the foreign office last week.

A strong protest was also lodged on cross-border violations from the Afghan side on August 16 and 17, which resulted in martyrdom of three FC personnel and injuries to two others.
