ISLAMABAD: Information Minister Pervaiz Rashid has vowed to move the Supreme Court of Pakistan against Election Tribunal’s decision to de-seat National Assembly Speaker Sardar Ayaz Sadiq.
“We respect the decision but don’t agree with it,” he said on Sunday, dubbing the verdict biased a day after it was issued in Lahore.
The information minister said the country’s law allows the PML-N to move the top court against Election Tribunal verdict, which he said punished the ruling party for the mistakes of the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP).
He claimed that history of Haripur, where the N-League defeated PTI in a recently held by-poll, would be repeated if re-election is ordered in the NA-122 constituency.
