Govt has allocated Rs 112 billion for road construction: PM Nawaz

HARIPUR: Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif said on Thursday that a network of motorways, expressways and roads is being built for better connectivity to bring prosperity across the country.

He was speaking at a briefing on Hazara Motorway at Chechian near Haripur on Thursday.

The PM went on to say that Hazara Motorway will now be six lanes instead of four.

HARIPUR: Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif said on Thursday that a network of motorways, expressways and roads is being built for better connectivity to bring prosperity across the country.

He was speaking at a briefing on Hazara Motorway at Chechian near Haripur on Thursday.

The PM went on to say that Hazara Motorway will now be six lanes instead of four.

He further said the government has allocated Rs 112 billion for construction of roads in the current fiscal year.

PM Nawaz also said that construction of motorway from Havelian to Mansehra will begin soon.

He said a four-lane road will be constructed from Mansehra to Thakot.

The prime minister went on to say that a road linking Gilgit-Baltistan to Thakot is under construction, which will link Pakistan to China, and will be completed in two years. “The road is part of China-Pakistan Economic Corridor.”

He said communication links will be strengthened among regional countries, adding that CPEC will bring progress and prosperity to the region.
