ISLAMABAD: Finance Minister Ishaq Dar spoke with Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) leader Farooq Sattar on Thursday.

During the conversation Sattar informed Dar about the reasons behind the resignations of MQM lawmakers.

The finance minister said a party with a public mandate should play its democratic role. He added that there was technical space on the issues of accepting the resignations of MQM lawmakers.

Farooq Sattar said constitutional and human rights issues which were the reason for the resignations should be discussed. According to Sattar despite the resignations being submitted the dialogue process between political parties should continue.

The MQM leader also said that Ishaq Dar had told him he would contact him again after speaking with Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif.

The MQM resigned from all its seats in the National Assembly, the Senate (upper house) and the Sindh provincial assembly the previous day in protest against what they describe as a campaign of victimization against them in the ongoing operation in Karachi
