LAHORE/KARACHI: A resolution was moved by the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) in the Sindh and Punjab Assemblies against what the party termed as a provocative speech made by Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) chief Altaf Hussain.

Meanwhile, in Azad Kashmir's Legislative Assembly, the resolution was submitted by Finance Minister Chaudhry Latif Akbar. Announcing rallies against Altaf Hussain from Thursday, Prime Minister Abdul Majeed ordered two MQM ministers of his cabinet to either disown Altaf’s statements or resign from the cabinet.

Similarly, PTI lawmaker Samar Ali Khan submitted a resolution in the Sindh Assembly, urging the federal government to take action against the party’s chief.

In the Punjab Assembly, the resolution was tabled by Opposition Leader Mian Mehmoodur Rashid, seeking registration of a treason case against Altaf Hussain.

The motion demanded Altaf Hussain be arrested and brought back to Pakistan with the help of Interpol as he repeatedly targets Pakistan’s armed forces and other institutions.

Addressing MQM’s Annual Convention in the US city of Dallas via telephone on Sunday Altaf Hussain asked his party workers to stage protests in front of United Nations, White House and NATO and raise a demand for sending their troops to Karachi.

Altaf said, India itself is a coward country, if it had some honour it would not have allowed 'bloodshed of Mohajirs' on Pakistani soil. He reiterated the demand for a separate province for Mohajirs.

MQM Chief directed party workers to write letters to US newspapers and make them aware of the actual situation in Pakistan.
