Re-polling for KP LG setup: Unofficial results begin to pour in

MARDAN: Unofficial results for Khyber Pakhtunkhwa local government setup have started to pour in, following the re-polling in 362 polling stations in 14 districts.

The unofficial results unveil that independent candidate for district council Ahmed Sultan has returned successful in UC Chak Hoti while Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf’s Abdul Malik has won Tehsil Council slot for the UC.

MARDAN: Unofficial results for Khyber Pakhtunkhwa local government setup have started to pour in, following the re-polling in 362 polling stations in 14 districts.

The unofficial results unveil that independent candidate for district council Ahmed Sultan has returned successful in UC Chak Hoti while Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf’s Abdul Malik has won Tehsil Council slot for the UC.

Earlier, re-polling ended at 6:00PM as local government elections took place today under strict security on 362 polling stations.

LG elections on the 362 seats held in late May this year had been declared void after widespread reports of rigging and irregularities, and voters cast their ballots again today.

Re-polling was held in Peshawar, Nowshera, Charsadda, Mardan, Swabi, Hangu, Karak, Bannu, Lakki Marwat, DI Khan, Abbottabad, Manshera, and Buner districts. Polling started at 8:00AM and continued till 6:00PM without any break.

According to reports, women also came out in large numbers to exercise their right of franchise.

Women came out to vote for the first time in Swabi’s Tandkoi Union Council, while reports also received of delays in start of polling in several districts.
