COAS visits Italy's army headquarters

RAWALPINDI: Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Raheel Sharif, who is on an official visit to Italy, visited Italy’s army headquarters on Tuesday and held meetings with Italy’s military leadership.

Upon his arrival, the COAS was presented guard of honor by a smartly turned out contingent of Italian army.

According to ISPR here, the COAS met Italian Army Chief Lieutenant General Danilo Errico.

During the meeting, matters pertaining to military-to-military relations, enhancing cooperation, defence collaboration and training were discussed.

Italian army chief thanked Pakistan Army for its sacrifices and role in securing the region.

The COAS also held meeting with Italian Chief of Defence Forces (CDF) General Claudio Graziano. Regional security and defence collaboration came under discussion.

The COAS said Pak Army has a lot to offer to other armies of the world.

The CDF Italian Armed Forces appreciated Pakistan’s success and expertise in fighting terrorism. “We see Pakistan Army with respect and admiration,” he said.

The Italian CDF vowed to eliminate terrorism together.
