RAWALPINDI: Army Chief General Raheel Sharif is in Italy for a three-day official bilateral visit, the ISPR said in a statement.
During the visit, the army chief has a number of scheduled meetings and visits lined up with political and military leaders and field commanders, it said.
Shortly after his arrival, Gen Raheel Sharif met Italian Foreign Minister Paolo Gentiloni and held a detailed discussion on regional security. The Italian minister appreciated Pakistan's positive role for regional security and stability.
The Italian foreign minister commended Pakistan Army as symbol of great hope for peace and stability of the region and the entire world.
The Army chief also visited Defence and Security Industrial Group to explore wider defence collaboration and cooperation, said the ISPR.
Gen Sharif also visited Air Defence Headquarters of the Italian Army and was briefed in detail on weapon systems, doctrine, and training.
