RAHIM YAR KHAN: Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif visited the flood affected areas of Rahim Yar Khan on Friday and was briefed on relief efforts.

The prime minister was informed that Liaqatpur District was severely impacted by the floods and 34,715 people were shifted to safer places.

Over 41,000 acres of farmland was also destroyed from the flooding with affected crops including cotton and sugarcane.

Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif said the flooding in Chitral was result of glaciers melting and not rains.

He added that boats should have been sent from before to areas which were at risk of flooding.

Prime Minister Sharif warned that if the water flow increased a lager flood could be expected.
