ISLAMABAD: The Water and Power Ministry said on Thursday the K-Electric was neither employing its 100 percent power generation capacity nor was it fulfilling its commitment made to the government and consumers.

In a statement issued here on Thursday, the ministry asked the NEPRA (National Electric Power Regulatory Authority) to carry out an audit of the K-Electric, making the power utility answerable to fulfill the terms and conditions given in the license.

It noted that the K-Electric was not fulfilling the standards of performance which calls for an inquiry and audit by the NEPRA.

The ministry said investigation should be carried out against the K-Electric for violation of terms and conditions of the license.

The minister also drew NEPRA’s attention towards lack of investment in the power sector in Karachi and persistent tripping of the system.
