Pakistan govt should probe BBC allegations against MQM: Khawaja Asif

KARACHI: Minister for Water and Water, Khawaja Asif on Wednesday said an in-depth probe should be undertaken in connection with allegations against Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM).

KARACHI: Minister for Water and Water, Khawaja Asif on Wednesday said an in-depth probe should be undertaken in connection with allegations against Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM).

Speaking in Geo News program ‘Aaj Shahzeb Khanzada Kay Sath’, Khawaja Asif said it is the British media group that alleged MQM received Indian funding. However, he added, that now it is Pakistan government responsibility to launch an investigation into this report.

He said MQM’s will regain its credibility once the allegations are proved wrong.

Today, BBC in its documentary report claimed that MQM received funding from India.

The Federal Minister also said that if MQM considers the allegations baseless and concocted it has a right to file a defamation suit.

He said BBC is credible media group and if it carries a report, it automatically becomes a serious issue and it must not be taken lightly.

Khawaja Asif said the report’s claim that India provided the funding is a matter of great significance for all.
