FAISALABAD: Two separate cases have been lodged in the killing of 15-year-old Farhan at People’s colony police station Faisalabad.
The teenager boy was gunned down by police as they mistook him for a robber for brandishing a toy gun late on Monday.
The first FIR has been registered on the complaint of police. In this case, the incident has been declared a police encounter and Farhan as an accused.
The second FIR has been lodged on the complaints of the family of Farhan. The heirs of deceased have nominated four police personnel including Station House Office (SHO).
Farhan was taking selfies of him carrying a toy gun from his mobile phone along with his friend out on the street when the local police mistook him for a bandit and opened fire on him without any warning.
The police personnel of People’s Colony area took the injured teenager to Civil Hospital, where he succumbed to his wounds after several hours. Farhan’s friend luckily escaped the incident unhurt.
Upon close examination, police officials found out that the gun was in fact a toy. Police officials purportedly fled away from the hospital after hearing the news of Farhan’s death.
However, SHO Farhad Cheema, who allegedly opened fire on the boy, was later taken into custody and shifted to an undisclosed location for further interrogation.
