SHC seeks Home Secretary’s reply on Zulfiqar Mirza’s plea

KARACHI: The Sindh High Court (SHC) Monday sought reply from Sindh Home Secretary over the application of Pakistan People’s Party dissident Zulfiqar Mirza.
In its order issued in writing, the SHC directed the Home Secretary to submit the reply by 11 AM Tuesday.
The SHC asked on whose orders a siege was laid around an anti-terrorism court and on whose orders the media representatives were attacked.
It also asked as to who had ordered the masked policemen in civvies to take action? And what action was taken by the Sindh Government over the siege of entry path to the SHC?
Expressing dissatisfaction over the reply submitted by IG Sindh and other police officials, the SHC said that all of them have concealed names of officials who had issued orders to the police. The IG Sindh and other officials tried to hide facts, the SHC said in its order in writing.
It said why the SHC not go ahead and initiate contempt of court proceedings against IG Sindh and other officials.
The SHC also issued show-cause notices to IG Sindh, Additional IG Krachi, DIG and SSP South.
